A good fat loss plan should enable you to lose body fat while also being able to enjoy life to the fullest. No sense in getting in great shape and getting lean if you have to sacrifice enjoying life in the process. Socializing and enjoying food and drinks with friends and family are a big part of what makes life great. You can have high calorie foods, desserts, beer, etc. while having a great body if you know what you are doing. Here are a few tips to insure that you enjoy the best of both worlds.

Think of Weekly Total Calories NOT Daily Calories
People are so hooked on the idea of counting daily calories. The problem with this is that it doesn’t really allow for big meals with drinks. If a 180 pound man is trying to lose weight, he would need to eat roughly 1,800 calories per day (give or take) to accomplish that goal. A good BBQ with chips, potato salad, beers, and dessert will blow way past that number in one meal! So his diet approach is blown.
Counting Weekly Calories is a Better Approach
To be honest, I don’t even believe in counting calories. What I do believe in is hitting calorie ranges. So if for instance that same 180 pound man had a 4,000 calorie day, he would ideally have a low cal day leading up to it and 2 lower calorie days after this BBQ. So in this example he overshot the mark by 2,200. He simply have to throw in a few days of calories in the 1000 range to make up for it.
Some Common Concerns About This Strategy
A common reaction to this strategy is that people believe their metabolism will slow down if they don’t eat every few hours. This belief has been proven false in the past few years. Others believe that they will lose muscle if they don’t eat enough protein day-to-day. This has been proven false as well. In fact, a recent study had people live on an 800 calorie diet for a few weeks and perform resistance training 3 times per week. These people did not lose any significant amount of muscle. Things like the starvation effect and muscle wasting happen over long periods of time, so no need to worry about a few low calorie days thrown into the mix.
The Only Fat Loss Plan that Allows for Social Events
If you think about it, there is no other effective approach for losing body fat and maximizing social events at the same time. Every other approach is based on deprivation of some sort. You will need to throw in some lower calorie days, but this is the only fat loss plan that will allow you to stay ripped without holding back at social events.
