An Excellent Way to Lose Weight: Walking

Having some kind of personal exercise program is a terrific way to get started losing weight. But you likely haven’t exercised in a long while, so you have no clue where to begin. Usually, it can seem a little too much and even a little bit scary… Fortunately, it’s not that confusing or difficult to do – just begin walking. You should make walking a major component of your workout plan.

There are lots of ways you will be able to fit walking into your everyday agenda. Have a dog? Take your pet for a nice, long walk. Anything under 10 minutes doesn’t count. After a week, you’ll have walked a minimum of seventy minutes more than if you hadn’t walked at all. If you take your dog for a walk twice per day then that number is multiplied by two. Perhaps you can try walking to work, or at least part of the way? You can try this irrespective of the distance of your home from your office. Of course, you are going to have to walk back at the end of your work day, too, so that doubles your work out – a very good thing! If you get on the bus to your office, just begin using a stop that’s a little farther from either end. It’s not at all difficult to integrate walking to your daily routine.

If you want to be healthier overall, start walking. The reason walking is so good for your heart and at helping you get rid of extra pounds is that it is the ideal aerobic exercise. Walking is usually slow placed, so you won’t be stressing your joints too much, unlike running. I have a skinny brother who seems to be able to gobble up anything he wants and stay lean. I asked him about it. He told me how often he goes out to walk daily, and it’s a lot more than I do. It all became clear when he said that. There’s no excuse not to exercise, when walking is very uncomplicated.

Once you establish walking as a part of your everyday schedule, it will become more effortless to stay with it, and as a bonus you’ll begin to notice you’re losing weight, too. As you start to get used to walking, you’ll note that you’re definitely feeling more fit and, because it’s not that hard on you, your motivation will be enhanced also. As you walk more and observe changes, you’ll want to do more or increase the intensity level of your walks. Why not, if you want to walk more? Try walking at a faster pace or, if you’re feeling really self-confident, you could start jogging. After that, only the sky’s your limit.

You really don’t have a good reason to not take a walk even if it’s a short distance every day. You can always find time to walk around your work complex, or the block. If you can’t do that, get a gym membership and get on a treadmill. There are lots and lots of ways to skin this exercise cat.
