How Addicts Lose Weight

The truth is that those who are addicted to drugs or alcohol have lost weight. Some junkies who weigh about one hundred kilos before now only weighs 56-60 kilograms. This is because of their loss of appetite while they are under the influence of drugs. They would not feel hungry especially if they may be using stimulant drugs like cocaine and methamphetamines. These types of drugs would make an addicts throat and mouth really dry or feel dry that it would be hard for them to swallow food. And since their throat and mouth feels dry they would constantly hydrate. Since junkies will not eat their physique would lack the protein as well as the carbohydrates it needs.

A few drug rehabilitation programs have encountered patients who have significantly lost excess weight that they have become weak from not eating in a couple of days. That’s the reason a drug rehabilitation programs have made a strict rule to supply their patients with enough food and vitamins to regain the body weight they lost during their addiction. Some are given food supplements as a way to regain their appetite once more and gain the weight which they lost. By doing this it would then be very easy to treat their patients addiction knowing that their particular appetite for food has increased.

Because most addicts have poor nourishment when they lose weight it would sometimes be hard for them to regain it. It would eventually take a couple of months or so before they could gain back the weight they shed or to tone their bodies to a healthful new look. Of course it will require them to take some vitamins and food supplements to enable their appetite to get back to normal. These food supplements and vitamins help not just to regain ones appetite but also to purge and block out the unhealthy toxins they were hooked on.

Another reason why addicts shed pounds is because they lack the money to purchase food. Rather than buying food they would instead buy alcohol or drugs to meet their craving. That is the reason why some addicts have very weak immune system and weak bone structure. Malnutrition is also a factor where a drug addict would develop psychological conditions. Because addicts have poor nutrition thats why their body cannot supply fresh blood to their brains and the effects of the alcohol and drugs they took kills brain cells causing them to develop mental disorders if their malnourishment goes on.
